Florida Academic Scholars requires a 3.5 weighted GPA in core courses, along with 100 community service hours and qualifying SAT/ACT scores. FAS covers 100% of tuition plus a $300/semester stipend.
What GPA do I need for Florida Medallion Scholars (FMS)?
Florida Medallion Scholars requires a 3.0 weighted GPA in core courses, 75 community service hours, and qualifying test scores. FMS covers approximately 75% of tuition.
Does Bright Futures use weighted or unweighted GPA?
Bright Futures uses a weighted GPA calculated from your 16 core academic courses. AP and IB courses receive additional weight in the calculation.
How is Bright Futures GPA different from my school GPA?
Your school GPA includes all courses — electives, PE, art, etc. Bright Futures GPA only counts core academic subjects (English, Math, Science, Social Studies, Foreign Language), so it can be higher or lower than your overall school GPA.
