Extra Credit Calculator
See exactly how those bonus points will impact your final grade.
Frequently Asked Questions
Extra credit adds points directly to your earned points or overall grade percentage, depending on how your teacher weights it. If it's added to a specific category (like Homework), it only boosts that category. If it's added to your final grade, it has a much larger impact.
No, true extra credit can never lower your grade. It only adds to your 'earned points' without increasing the 'total possible points' in the class.
It depends on the scale. If the class has 1,000 total points, 5 extra credit points will only raise your final grade by 0.5%. However, if the class only has 100 total points, 5 points of extra credit will boost your final grade by a massive 5% (half a letter grade).
Add your extra credit points to your total earned points in the class, then divide by the total regular points possible. Multiply by 100 to get your new percentage. Our calculator automates this math for you.
If your teacher allows grades over 100%, you will earn an A+ or a percentage above 100. This is very common in high school classes and can provide a cushion if you score lower on future assignments.
