Test Points to Grade Calculator

Divide the number of points you earned by the total number of points possible, then multiply by 100. For example, if you got 42 out of 50 points: (42 ÷ 50) × 100 = 84%.

An 85% is typically a solid B on most standard high school and college grading scales. It translates to roughly a 3.0 on a 4.0 GPA scale.

In most US high schools and colleges, a 70% is a C-, which is considered a passing grade. However, some prerequisite college courses require a minimum of a C (73%) or higher to advance to the next level.

Subtract your earned points from the total possible points. If you scored an 88 on a 100-point test, you lost 12 points. Review the test to see if you missed three 4-point questions or six 2-point questions.

A curve is a grading adjustment made by a teacher. If the highest score in the class was a 90%, the teacher might add 10 points to everyone's score to 'curve' the top grade to a 100%.
