How does the BC PNP points system work in 2024?
The BC Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) scores candidates out of 200 points. 120 points are based on Human Capital (Experience, Education, Language) and 80 points are based on Economic Factors (Hourly wage and regional location of the job offer).
Why do I get points for my hourly wage instead of my job title?
BC PNP recently shifted to heavily weight the hourly wage of your job offer. This is to ensure that nominees are being paid competitive market rates and can comfortably afford the high cost of living in British Columbia. A wage of $70+/hr grants the maximum 55 points.
What counts as 'Regional' BC?
Metro Vancouver gets 0 regional points. 'Area 2' (Squamish, Abbotsford, Chilliwack, etc.) gets 5 points. 'Area 3' (Anywhere else in BC, like Victoria, Kelowna, Kamloops, Prince George) gets the maximum 15 base regional points.
What is a good BC PNP score?
Draw scores fluctuate depending on whether it's a general draw or targeted draw (e.g., Tech, Healthcare, Childcare). General draws often require 105-120+ points, while targeted tech draws usually sit around 90-105 points, and healthcare draws can be even lower.
