CAO (Central Applications Office) points are calculated from your best 6 Leaving Certificate subjects. Higher Level H1 = 100 points, H2 = 88, H3 = 77, down to H8 = 0. Maximum is 625 points (600 + 25 bonus for Higher Level Maths).
Ireland uses the same classification as the UK: First Class Honours (70%+), Upper Second/2.1 (60-69%), Lower Second/2.2 (50-59%), and Third/Pass (40-49%). The QQI framework governs all qualifications.
