Find out if your profession qualifies for the fast-track New Zealand Permanent Residence pathways.

Occupation Details

What is the New Zealand Green List?
The Green List is a list of highly skilled occupations that are in acute shortage in New Zealand. It replaced the old Long Term Skill Shortage List. It offers two distinct, fast-tracked pathways to permanent residence: Straight to Residence (Tier 1) and Work to Residence (Tier 2).
Do I need a job offer to apply for the Green List visa?
Yes. Regardless of whether you are on Tier 1 or Tier 2, you MUST have a valid job offer from an accredited New Zealand employer. You cannot apply for a Green List visa without a job offer.
Can I bring my family on the Green List visa?
Yes! If your role is on the Green List, you can support a work visa for your partner (they will receive an open work visa) and student/visitor visas for your dependent children.
What if my job is not on the Green List?
If your occupation is not on the Green List, you can still apply for residence through the Skilled Migrant Category (SMC) if you meet the 6-point threshold (based on your degree, income, or occupational registration) and have a valid job offer.
