OptomCAS GPA Calculator
Calculate your overall Science GPA and your OAT-Specific Academic GPA for optometry school admissions.
OptomCAS Course Input
OAT Focus: Your OAT-specific GPA is arguably the most important metric on your application. If your OAT GPA is a 3.0 but your overall Science GPA is a 3.7 (because of high grades in math or random health classes), admissions committees will scrutinize your lower OAT core grades.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the OptomCAS OAT-Specific GPA?
Optometry schools highly value your performance in the exact subjects tested on the OAT (Optometry Admission Test): Biology, General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Physics. While your overall Science GPA includes Math and random science electives, your OAT-specific GPA strips those away to see how you perform in the core sciences.
Does OptomCAS use grade forgiveness?
No. Like most centralized graduate health applications, OptomCAS averages all attempts of a repeated course. If you retook a class, you must enter both the original grade and the retake grade into the calculator.
Is Math included in my OptomCAS Science GPA?
Yes. Unlike AACOMAS or VMCAS, OptomCAS includes Math (Calculus, Statistics) in your overall Science GPA. However, Math is NOT included in your OAT-specific Science GPA.
