How to Use the GPA Scale Converter

When applying to graduate schools or transferring between universities within Canada, you will often need to normalize your GPA to a different scale.

For example, if you earned an 8.0 on York University's 9.0 scale, you can use this calculator to see that it roughly translates to a 3.56 on the standard 4.0 scale used by UBC or McGill, or a 10.67 on McMaster's 12.0 scale.

Note: Mathematical conversion provides a strong estimate. However, universities may use their own specific lookup tables (like the OMSAS scale in Ontario) which map letter grades individually rather than multiplying the final GPA ratio.
