Percentage to GPA Converter
Convert your percentage grades into letter grades and GPA points across all 4 Canadian scales (4.0, 4.33, 9.0, and 12.0).
Why Canadian Percentages Look Different
One of the most confusing things for Canadian students applying internationally (or US students coming to Canada) is how percentages map to letter grades.
🇨🇦 In Canada:
An 85% is generally considered an A (or A-) and translates to a 4.0 GPA (or 3.9/4.0).
🇺🇸 In the US:
An 85% is generally considered a B and translates to a 3.0 GPA.
Canadian universities grade much more strictly on the 100-point scale. It is exceptionally rare to achieve a 98% or 99% in a Canadian university course, whereas it is more common in the US.
Applying to US Grad Schools? US admissions boards are generally aware of Canadian grading deflation. If your transcript shows an 82%, do not manually convert that to a 3.0 (B-) using a US scale. You should submit your official Canadian transcript, which will likely be evaluated as an A- (3.7 GPA).
