How It Works

Your Cumulative GPA is a weighted average. The more credits you have already completed, the harder it becomes to move your CGPA up or down because new grades make up a smaller percentage of the total pool.

To calculate what you need:

  1. Select your university's grading scale (4.0, 4.33, 9.0, or 12.0).
  2. Enter your Current CGPA and the Total Credits you have completed so far.
  3. Enter your Target CGPA.
  4. Enter the Remaining Credits you plan to take.
  5. The calculator will determine the exact GPA average you need to maintain across those remaining credits.

Tip: Ensure you are using the same credit system (e.g., 3 credits per half-year course, or 0.5 FCEs per course) for both your completed and remaining credits.

Common Target GPAs in Canada

  • Medical School (OMSAS): Usually requires a minimum 3.80 - 3.90+ on the OMSAS 4.0 scale to be highly competitive.
  • Law School (OLSAS): Highly variable, but generally requires a 3.70+ CGPA or Best 2 Years.
  • Master's Programs: Most require at least a B+ average (approx. 3.30 / 4.0 or 7.0 / 9.0) in the final two years of study.
  • Academic Probation / RTW: To remain in good standing, you generally need to keep your CGPA above a 1.50 or 2.00 on a 4.0 scale (varies heavily by faculty).
