The Frisking Nightmare
It is 1:00 PM on the day of the NEET exam. A student arrives at the center feeling confident. The security guard takes one look at their full-sleeve shirt, hands them a pair of scissors, and tells them to cut the sleeves off right there in the dirt, or they cannot enter.
This happens every single year. The National Testing Agency (NTA) operates under intense pressure to prevent high-tech cheating scandals (Bluetooth devices, hidden earpieces). To achieve this, they enforce a draconian, uncompromising dress code.
If you violate it, the security personnel at the gate have full authority to deny you entry, destroying your year of hard work.
The Official NTA Dress Code (For Males & Females)
The golden rule for NEET attire is: Simple, light, and half-sleeved.
What You MUST Wear:
What is STRICTLY Banned:
Customary / Religious Dress Exceptions
The NTA respects religious and customary attire (e.g., Hijab, Burkha, Kirpan).
However, there is a major condition: You must report to the exam center at least 2 hours early (usually by 11:30 AM instead of the standard 1:00 PM) for thorough, specialized frisking in a private enclosure. If you arrive at 1:15 PM wearing customary dress, the center will not have time to perform the specialized check, and you may face issues.
What to Carry in Your Hands
You are only allowed to carry a transparent plastic pouch containing the absolute essentials:
Note: The NTA provides the black ballpoint pen inside the exam hall. Do not carry your own pen, pencils, or erasers.
The Psychological Advantage
Exam day anxiety is high enough without fighting with a security guard over a belt. Wear pajamas and a plain t-shirt. The less you have on, the faster you get through frisking, allowing you to sit at your desk, breathe, and focus purely on the Biology section.
