A T-Level is a large qualification equivalent to three A-Levels. A Distinction* (D*) is worth 168 UCAS points (equal to A*A*A* at A-Level). Distinction (D) = 144 points (AAA). Merit (M) = 120 points (BBB). Pass (P) (C or above on the core) = 96 points (CCC). Pass (P) (D or E on the core) = 72 points (DDD).
Yes, the vast majority of UK universities accept T-Levels for admission, including many Russell Group universities. As T-Levels are equivalent to three A-Levels, they meet the primary entry requirements for many degree courses, provided the T-Level subject is relevant to the degree you want to study.
Your overall T-Level grade is calculated from two main components: the Core Component (graded A*-E) and the Occupational Specialism (graded Distinction, Merit, Pass). You must also successfully complete a 45-day industry placement. The Department for Education provides a matrix that combines your Core and Specialism grades to determine your overall T-Level grade.
No. To achieve an overall T-Level pass and receive UCAS points, you must pass all components of the qualification, including the industry placement. If you fail the Core Component, the Occupational Specialism, or do not complete the industry placement, you will not receive an overall T-Level grade or the associated UCAS points.
If you achieve a Pass in your Occupational Specialism but only a D or E in your Core Component, you will still receive an overall "Pass" grade. However, this lower Pass band is worth 72 UCAS points (equivalent to DDD at A-Level), whereas a Pass with a C or above on the core is worth 96 UCAS points (equivalent to CCC).
