Weighted Assignment Grade Calculator
Calculate how much a single test, essay, or project will impact your final class grade.
Frequently Asked Questions
Multiply the grade you received on the assignment by its percentage weight in the class (in decimal form). For example, a 90% on an essay worth 20% of your grade is: 90 × 0.20 = 18 final grade points.
A 10% assignment can lower your grade by a maximum of 10 overall percentage points (if you get a 0%). If you have an 85% in the class and get a 0% on a 10% assignment, your new grade will be a 75%.
Final exams are typically weighted between 15% and 30% of your overall course grade. You can use a weighted assignment calculator to see exactly how different final exam scores will shift your total class percentage.
It means that half of your entire final grade depends solely on that one assignment. If you get a 100% on it, you earn 50 full points toward your final grade. If you get a 50% on it, you only earn 25 points.
Assignment category weights are always listed in the course syllabus provided by your teacher or professor at the beginning of the semester.
