How to use this calculator
To figure out what you need on your final exam, you need three numbers:
- Your Current Grade (%): This is your running average before the final exam. If you don't know it, you can use our Assignment Grade Calculator to figure it out.
- Final Exam Weight (%): How much the final exam is worth toward your overall subject mark (e.g. 50%).
- Target Subject Grade (%): What you want your final grade to be (e.g. 50% for a Pass, 85% for an HD).
Hurdle Requirements: Some Australian universities (like Monash or USYD) have"hurdle" requirements for final exams. Even if you mathematically have enough marks to pass the subject without taking the exam, a hurdle means you must score at least a certain percentage (often 40% or 45%) on the final exam itself to pass the subject. Always check your unit guide!
